No Seniors Left Behind:
There is a new revolution under way. All over the country, teenagers are realizing that they can be useful to seniors who are other people's grandparents. They want to donate their time and talent to coach, teach or tutor computer skills, email setup, and other basic skills to the elders. In return, they get to benefit from the wisdom of these seniors. Teenagers are not wasting their precious on hanging out and partaking in unbecoming activities. They can be found at the retirement centers helping a senior out.
All over the country, teen senior computer classes are springing up. There is a great thirst among this population for knowledge. Seniors want to be cool. They want to learn how to use the gadgets they'd received from their loved ones. They want to be connected with their children and grandchildren who often live thousands of miles away. These days, technology can shorten the distance. But they have to first conquer their fear and ask for help. Most of the times, help is not far from them.
Some teen gadget whizzes are just around the corner. Teenagers need to work on projects, community projects that will make them look good on their resume. In addition, they want to participate in something that they can see is making a difference in somebody's life.
From regular cellphones to smartphones, seniors may need some help. They may also need help figuring out how to use Skype or Google+ tools to remain connected with their grandchildren.
From California to Georgia, seniors with computer, wordProcessor, electronic gadgets, email, and phone questions can be set up with trained teen volunteers who will answer some of these questions. "Seniors with questions about computers, internet, e-mail, word processing and more will be teamed up with trained teen volunteers to help answer all their questions."
Notes: HighTechElderHelp gives a shoutout to "Teenager Elder Computer Help," a program through the Central Oregon council on Aging aimed at helping seniors get digitally savvy.
Seniors with questions on their smartphones, Facebook and Skype can meet with trained teens who help solve their problems.
